I am having trouble importing a landscape layout xls table to a word docx.  I
only imports as a portrait file.  It neeeds to be landscape so as to reduce
the number of pages and make it readable.

Select & copy the XL table, in Word go to Edit>Paste Special & choose
Enhanced Metafile to paste it as a picture. Then you can rotate it using the
picture properties or the Drawing toolbar. You can also create Section
Breaks in the docx & change the page orientation to landscape for the pages
that will contain the table. However...

Depending on the amount of content neither an embedd spreadsheet nor an
embedded picture can span a page break. If the table won't fit on a single
"page" in the docx you'll need to copy & paste one section at a time to
separate pages.
