I'm having trouble balancing columns. Have tried Help and inserted a
continuous break at the end of the columns but nothing is happening.
Frustrating but must be something very simple tha tI'm not doing. There is a
heading at the beginning of the first column. Have also been to
Tools>Options>compatibility and unticked Don't balance columns--

Press the ¶ button on the Standard toolbar to display nonprinting
marks. Perhaps the column has empty paragraphs (¶) which make it look
as if it isn't balancing correctly? If you find any, delete them. Does
that help?

When using newspaper style columns, the text will not wrap properly if there
is a blank line at the end of the text and it is included when highlight the
text to put into columns. Switch on the non printing characters ¶ and make
sure that what you want to put into columns *does not* have an extra return ¶
at the end. Hope I've explained that clearly enough!
