Once a book is finished, how can I then center columns on a page?

I have written a 900 page book with line-bordered and line boxed-in columns,
each a different width. I just noticed the columns were not exactly centered
on the page. How can I now format the page layout to have the columns
centered?

How did you create these columns? With text boxes? Or using Word's Columns
feature?
