I running the Beta version Office 2007 and cannot figure out how to remove
the extra linefeeds that appear in the footnote setup before the first actual
note appears (viz. a line is inserted at the bottom of the page to separate
text from footnotes, the line is followed by a linefeed—which is OK—but then
three more linefeeds appear by default before any footnote is inserted). I
don't like the waste of space this creates but cannot figure out how to
remove them from the footnote setup.
Any ideas out there?

They have probably become attached to the Endnote Separator (that line),
which you will need to Reset to the default format.
In Word 2007, you'll need to go into Draft view, and on the References
tab, click Show Notes. If it isn't self-explanatory from there, then
follow the instructions in #5 here:
5. Random Lines Appear

This discussion group is batting 1000 today. Two questions from me, two
quick answers—both solving my problem. Thanks for your help.

thanks for the feedback, especially as I've never seen Word 2007 and
wasn't quite sure that borrowed information would be clear enough. :)
