How can I stop Word from doing ALL automatic indenting, numbering etc. I am
creating text that consists of many lists and sub lists organized
heirarchically. Word constantly intervenes in my work, indenting and
numbering automatically and I want to stop it all. I want margins to stay at
the far left for the whole document and be able to tab in and add numbered
sentences manually as required. Word just will not relinquish control and is
causing mayhem with my document. Please Word, trust me, I know what I want my
text to look like and you are slowing me down in a big way.

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/TameAutoFormat.htm. But note that
if you are using outline lists, you would find it much easier if you set
them up properly: see
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html.
