How can i scan a document and then change the dates

I have a document /cover letter that I wrote several years ago , I am on
windows vista  (ameteur)  and i am trying to change the date without writing
the whole letter over. please help.

I take it this is a paper copy only? For that you will need OCR software to
convert the scan into editable text. Office includes Microsoft Office
Document Imaging (which may not have been installed) which is a rudimentary
OCR solution.
