When I cut and paste text into a document it is visible on my screen, but
portions disappear when the document is opened on another computer.  The text
at issue appears with tiny dotted underline on my page.  It is visible when
doc is pdf'd or image-captured.  It disappears after pasting when "keep text
only" is selected.  I've selected "show hidden text" via the Office button.

You need to select "show hidden text" on the other computer too.  That
setting is computer-specific, and is not saved with the document.

Do you want to keep the Hidden text? If not, then select the text and on the
Home tab, click the dialog box launcher in the Font group. (The little arrow
in the bottom right corner). You'll find the Hidden text format in the Font
dialog box. Otherwise, as Garfield-n-Odie pointed out, Show Hidden Text is
an application setting and it doesn't travel with the document.

Thanks for your input.  Do you have any advice if I want to make the Hidden
text "unhidden" so that I can send the document to various users?  I'm not
really sure how the text became "hidden" in the first place!

Select the text and press Ctrl+Shift+H or clear the Hidden check box in the
Font dialog.

And one more thing, this text is often visible on the receiving computer if
you click the Formatting key.
