Somehow my mother managed to change the default column setting for all Word
documents from one-column to three-column documents. Any idea how I can
change my settings back to one-column so every time I open up a new Word
document I don't have to manually change it?

Thanks!

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm for the general
principles, keeping in mind that an incorrect column setting is the same
*sort* of animal as extraneous text.
