Borders and Margins

Good morning.  I'm a new Word user trying to convert WP/Hot Docs templates
into Word/Hot Docs templates.  I have run into a formatting problem that I
just can't seem to solve.

The first pages of my document (the legal pleading format) has 1.5 left
margin, .5 right margin, 3" header and borders down the left and right sides
on the first page; the following pages are the same with the exception of a
1" header margin.  That part I can get set up correctly.

After the pleading I have an inserted letter with 1" margins all around and
no borders.  I can make the borders "discontinue" but as soon as I change the
margins, the margins in my pleading format also change.

I've been working on this for awhile (days actually) and any insight you can
provide would be most appreciated.

In general, in order to change margins, you must insert a section break
(next page). There are some exceptions; see the "More complex letterhead"
section of http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/Letterhead.htm for the
techniques.
