How do I set up a new word document in portrait mode?

Everytime I create a new word document, it opens up in landscape view.  Under
the 'file' tab, 'page setup' option, doesn't allow me to change the look to
landscape.  I says the margins are too narrow.

Go to Format | Columns, click on the preset picture for One, then OK. Now
change the page orientation to landscape and click Default...
