Formatting Folly - 14 Jan 2008 14:22 GMT
I am using Word 2002 and I would like to make a formatted document and lock
the formatting to users but still allow the users to enter text into the
fields.  I know this is possible with Word 2007 but I need to know if I can
do this in Word 2002.

You can create a form. See
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm.

If you are referring to marking certain areas as "unrestricted" (which you
can do in Word 2003 and 2007; see
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HP010447471033.aspx?pid=CH010397751033
"Allow editing in a protected document") I don't think this is possible in
Word 2002. What you can do is insert section breaks and leave one or more
sections unprotected.
