I am using Word 2003.
I just received a very long document from someone else to finalize.  I need
to put a header/footer into the document, but when I click on the View >
Header and Footer in the toolbar nothing happens.  I don't get anything - No
box to add text to.  I checked the page setup and "different first page" is
not checked.  I tried putting the header on a different page but the same
thing happened - Nothing.  I opened a new document and tried to put in a
header and there was no problem doing that.
What could be preventing me from adding a header to this document?  I would
appreciate any help you can give me - ASAP.  I am on a deadline.

Rather than waste any more time trying to sort it, I would just treat the
document as corrupt. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm
