Does anyone know why a gray border appears in print preview for some
pages?  The page seems to be formatted slightly differently and Word
displays rulers whenever one of these pages is encountered.  It seems
to appear near section or page breaks.

Did you create this document yourself? If so, did you enable any page
borders?

Page borders as well as Page Layout settings can be unique to sections of
your document. It is extremely likely that the page borders apply to
selected sections, as could the Page Layout settings.

Let me know. Perhaps I can help you.
