Page Numbering Question

I am using Word 2002. Is it possible to have the page numbering (i
footnotes) begin on say the fifth page? I've tried a variety of thing
but the page numbers always begin on either the first or second page.
do not alwyas want my page numbering to begin on either of those pages
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Ed,

Using an { IF { PAGE } > # { = { PAGE } - # }  } field construction where #
is the number of the physical page preceeding the physical page on which you
want the numbering to start will resulting in the numbering starting on that
page with number 1.

You must use Ctrl+F9 to insert each pair of field delimiters { } and to
toggle them off after construction the field, use Alt+F9

Doug's solution will work if your document does not have a table of
contents. If you want a TOC, calculated page numbers will not work. Instead,
you'll need to insert a section break between pages 4 and 5 (in your
example). For the general technique, see
