I was wondering how to create a header starting on the 2nd
page of a document.  I don't want the header to show up on
the first page.

On the Layout tab of Page Setup, check the box for "Different first page."
This will give you a separate First Page Header/Footer, which you leave
empty (or use for different text, such as a letterhead).

(For Word 2000):

File, Page Setup, click Layout tab,
check mark by "Different first page".
