page numbers on my documents appear gray and will not print on documents....how do I ensure they will print on the pages of my documents....I have tried headers and footers....and insert page numbers with no success. What am I doing wrong, or how do I change this?

One possible solution is to check under Tool/Options.
Select the Printer Tab.  Make sure the background
printing option is selected.

Hi Brian,

When viewed on the screen (other than when the header/footer pane is
active), the page numbers will appear gray.  If they don't print, it may be
because they are in the unprintable area for your printer.

See the article ?The bottom of my pages don't print? at:

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/BottomsDontPrint.htm

Background printing has nothing to do with it.
