Multiple options selections within a document

Hi,

I have to create a word document template, which is no problem, but it has a
variant in it that i don't know how to handle for the best.

We tend not use controls within word docs, as they don't print out very
well, and we mainly end up using  [MacroButton AcceptallChangesInDocument
<STRING>] within docs to allow the user to click somewhere and overright
certain sections.

Now, on this one template we have to force the user to select one of three
options. Currently the word doc simply has "OPTION1/OPTION2/OPTION3 DELETE
AS APPLICABLE" typed into the box and the user has to delete the ones that
they dont want. I would like to have the user to select the one that they
want in such a way that the others disappear. This document will eventually
be pdf'd or printed off and given to clients. Because of this i would prefer
not to have any VB controls in the template, and would like any method we
choose to simply leave the text behind on the page of the selected option.

I suspect im not making much sense.

Is there a way to do this ??

Olly

Hi Harry,

If having the document protected for forms is acceptable, you can use a
dropdown type formfield.

Hi Harry,

Can you expand on what you mean by "they don't really print out very
well"? Word documents with form fields should print just like any
other document.

If you are going by what you see in Print Preview then the printed
document does not contain field shading or the view of the drop-down.

So far when we use a drop down field and print out the page its on, you get
a print out with a drop down field on it, similar to printing a Visual Basic
form with a drop down. Ie, you see the drop down control on the page.

Does this happen when the document is protected?

Hi Harry,

Are you using the Drop-Down Form Field from the Forms toolbar or the
Web tools? If the former then the controls should not print.
