I'm using Office XP, and having trouble putting page numbers in documents. I use the Insert command in the toolbar, then click on 'page number' in the menu list. This inserts a page number in a frame in the header / footer. However, there is no consistency about which pages the numbers are displayed on: sometimes it'll be on the first page and the last page, but not in between; sometimes it'll be on the first to penultimate pages, and not the last page. I have two section breaks in my document: between the first and second page, and the penultimate and last page. However, I have not broken continuity between footers in different sections (ie. all footers display 'same as previous'), so why should numbers be missing from some pages and not others
Help greatly appreciated - I cannot seem to solve this by myself

To get better control of page numbering, avoid the Insert | Page Numbers
command. Instead, open the header/footer pane (View | Header and Footer) and
use the Insert Page Number button on the Header and Footer toolbar. When a
document has multiple sections and you want continuous numbering throughout
the document, make sure that Same as Previous is enabled for every
header/footer and that "Continue from previous section" is enabled in Format
Page Number for every section.
