I have two problems with Word for MAC. 1) I can't seem to delete words or lines in a document. When I highlight a word or sentence and try to delete the words remain. Have I done something in the dropdowns?; 2) No matter how I set up the line spacing I always get double or triple spacing. I'd like single spacing.

Don't know about Mac, but in Winword when you can't delete a selection with
Delete, it's the fault of the WordPerfect settings on the General tab of
Tools | Options (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/UnableToDeleteText.htm). When you can't
delete text with Backspace, it's because you don't have "Typing replaces
selection" checked on the Edit tab of Tools | Options.

If you're seeing space between paragraphs rather than within them (that is,
after you press Enter), check the Space Before/After setting (in Format |
Paragraph) as well as the line spacing. Also, check to make sure that the
vertical alignment (Layout tab of Page Setup) is set to Top and not
justified.

Though my Mac doesn't have TOOLS > OPTION I got into Preferences and began to scout around and somehow got them both to work as I wanted. Thanks a bunch!
