I am creating a technical manual that will be printed on conventional letter size paper with the exception of a few sheets which need to be printed on 11 x 17 landscaped.  When I try to change the sheet size for a specific page Word reformats the entire document despite that I have checked to apply to this section only.  My printer has capabilities of 4 different paper trays and I don't want to have to change the pages while I am doing the print job.  Please help if you can.  {:o)

Do you have multiple sections in your document?  You would need to insert a
next page Section Break before and after the landscape text.
