MS Office Forum / Word / Page Layout / June 2004Copying between Templates
Auto Formatting gives me five tags that aren't apparently regularly available to me: List, List 1, List 2, List 3, List 4. However, I wish to use them and I can't locate a Template that contains these List tags in order to copy them to my personal Templates. Help! I am sure I am overlooking something. Thanks... These STYLES should be available in any document created from Normal.dot. Unfortunately, you don't mention which version of Word you have, but if you look in the list of styles you should find them. The Normal.dot Template has only Body Text, Default Paragraph Font, and Normal tags listed. This Normal.dot Template doesn't show up in my Word Template Directories, [under File | New] but I was able to find it otherwise in order to see what tags were included. ALL your templates should already contain these same List styles. If you haven't explicitly modified the style, it won't appear in Organizer. But if you haven't modified it, there's no need to copy it to another document, because it's already there. Just pick it up from Format/Styles and use Apply. Or type the style name in the Styles list in the Formatting toolbar, then press Enter and it will be applied to the selected paragraph(s). As soon as you've used it once in any document, it will then appear in the list.
