I am having a problem with this field code - it's probably just something
I'm being stupid about, but no change there then!!!
In the second section of a document (the first is the Contents list, and has
an Odd Page Break to close it off for duplex printing), I have tried to use
the SECTIONPAGES field to set up the number of pages in the main part of the
document.
I have done all the things I know to do (mirror margins, Start at Page 1,
etc) but it's still showing Page 1 of 14 instead of Page 1 of 13.
Any suggestions? TIA

Possibly the odd section break has somehow changed to a page break? At
the bottom left corner of the screen, Word should display something like
"Page n Section n nn/nn" (where the n's are numbers). If you put your
cursor on the last page of the document, what does this display?
Possibly the field you think is a SECTIONPAGES field is really a PAGES
field? Toggle field code display on by pressing Alt+F9 to check.

I have seen this before. For some reason Word insists on counting the blank
back of the last page in Section 1 as the first page in Section 2. You might
try inserting a page break to get the blank page, then use a Next Page (or
Odd Page) break. Where I saw the problem, though, I believe was when a user
was trying to start the second section on an even page--that is, an even
recto page, which Word regards (quite properly) as an anomaly.

Suzanne
Thanks - at least it's not me!
I did try the "ordinary" page break which did work, but I felt it ought to
work the other way - if there's a feature which copes with a situation, I
prefer to use it to prevent future problems. I hadn't bargained for it
causing other problems!
Thanks for replying.
