I would suggest adding a section break(next page) at then end of each document before you copy and paste. This should accomplish a unique section for each "page" and your formatting should be preserved within each section.

That doesn't preserve paragraph and font formatting, perhaps margins and
headers and footers.

You've touched the tip of a deep and complex issue; see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/WorkWithSections.htm. As Charles says,
even if you do everything right wrt section breaks, more is still required
if you want to preserve *all* formatting.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to try the section break and see if that
works. I do not wish to put the onus on the originator for certain reasons,
but thanks for the idea.
