Header setting Page x of y

I go into View, select header/footer and set the "Page x
of y" option.  It correctly displays the Page 1 of 12,
Page 2 of 12, Page 3 of 12, etc... on my document,
HOWEVER, when I print the document, it prints the header
information with "Page 1 of 1"  Page 2 of 2" Page 3 of 3"
etc....
Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem!  It is
driving me nuts!
