Mirror margin

I am trying to apply "mirror margin" only to one section of a document which
has "Normal" setting otherwise. But everytime I try that in "Page Setup" |
"Margin" with "Applies to" set at "This section", Word 2002 gives me a
message saying that some portion of the document is outside the printing
margin and modifies the margin for the entire document, i.e., for all
sections.

Is this behavior normal and is there any way of achieving this? I would also
like to have different page numbering scheme for odd and even pages in this
section.

Thanks.

Subsequently I found in Microsoft's KB  that this is a problem with Word
2000 (and I presume that is also true for Word 2002).
