I was attempting to delete a given page (by number) in a vba program.  I
found that an unwanted space character was being inserted into the document
immediately after the page and page break (the one following the page to be
deleted) were deleted.

Thinking it was my vba programming at fault I did it manually by selecting
the text of the page plus the page break that followed and pressing the
delete key.   To my surprise even interactively this is introducing an extra
space character!!??

This is Word 2002, anyone have any ideas?

thanks.

Might having "smart cut and paste" on in Tools | Options be causing this?

Yes, that was it (specifically the setting re adjusting spacing
automatically).

Thank you.

You're welcome.  My "smart cut and paste" doesn't have subsettings...old
version.
