Word Margin ruler

I can't get the margin ruler on the top of the word
document to appear and stay in place. Can someone help
me .

Word 2003 tends to lose some of its preference settings. You can overcome
this one by having an autonew and an autoopen macro each containing the line

ActiveWindow.ActivePane.DisplayRulers = True
