How can I set up headers on the FIRST page ONLY without
blank ODD pages (i.e. inserting a page break & selecting
even page will insert blank sheets)

I'm not sure I understand the question. Headers on the first page of what?
The document? The section? Either is possible. Inserting a section break
doesn't necessarily mean a blank page (unless you choose Even Page or Odd
Page). Have you tried the "Different first page" setting on the Layout tab
of Page Setup?

Thanks for the suggestion,

The "Different first page" setting on the Layout tab did
not solve the problem.

The problem is seen when using corporate letterhead with a
logo in the header.  The appearance of the logo-header on
the first page of a document is fine, but I do not want to
have it taking up space on any subsequent page.
