If it appears on every page, it very likely *is* in the footer. Even though
you don't have any footer text, you could have a border on the default
footer paragraph or a drawing line anchored to the footer.
1. View | Header and Footer. This opens the header pane.
2. On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Switch Between Header and Footer.
You're now in the footer pane.
3. Format | Borders and Shading and make sure that None is selected.
4. If there is no border, attempt to select the line. If you can select it,
press Delete.
