Solid Black Line

There's a solid black line that goes across the bottom of
each page of my four-page document.  It's not in the
footer of the document (there's no footer in the
document), nor am I able to enter page numbers into the
document (in a footer).  The solid black line goes from 0"
left margin, to the 0" right margin.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Sigh....

What I meant to ask is how do I get rid of this solid
black line?

Thanks.

If it appears on every page, it very likely *is* in the footer. Even though
you don't have any footer text, you could have a border on the default
footer paragraph or a drawing line anchored to the footer.

1. View | Header and Footer. This opens the header pane.

2. On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Switch Between Header and Footer.
You're now in the footer pane.

3. Format | Borders and Shading and make sure that None is selected.

4. If there is no border, attempt to select the line. If you can select it,
press Delete.

As a matter of curiosity, which was it--border or drawing line?
