I'm going nuts. Have Word 2002; when I do Tools/Protect
Document, am not able to select 'Sections', it is grayed
out. What am I doing wrong. I have a document with some
forms in it and other areas that the user needs to be able
to complete as usual, but can't seem to do anything other
than protect the entire document.

Hi pc,
When it says Sections, it literally means 'portions of the document between
Section Breaks'. Have you inserted section breaks between the parts that
have form fields and the parts that should be editable? If not, put the
cursor at one of those points, go to Insert > Break, and choose Continuous.
Repeat as needed. Then try Tools > Protect Document again, and the Sections
button should be available.

You create the sections before you protect the document :(
You can then protect which sections you wish.
