Hi Eric,
I think it's a known bug: If there are manual page breaks immediately above
the numbered heading, the number won't show in the Document Map.
It has been like this for several versions, I think, and doesn't look like
it's going to be fixed.
To avoid the problem, define the page break as a paragraph or style
property (Format > Paragraph > Line and page breaks > Page break above).

Klaus

Hi,
Is there a way to track where the page break are when
they are defined as paragraph or style? When they are
created manually they appear when the "Show/Hide" icon is
pressed... thanks.

"Page break before" shouldn't cause the problem. At least PBB is the
solution to most other problems caused by manual page breaks.

You can see the page break in any view (... as a dotted line in Normal
view).
It's not too easy to differentiate from a page break that occurred
naturally (because the page is full).
But a little black square in the left margin shows that there's some
special paragraph formatting. Double-clicking on that square shows you the
details.

Hi,
The only view that I'm able to see the page break
(defined as paragraph) is the Normal view as you said as
a dotted line. In the other views I do not see the dotted
line or the black square in the left margin. Under the
Tools/Options in the view tab I have set to show all the
formating marks and still only see the page break
(defined as paragraph) in the normal view... I mainly
work with the Print Layout and Outline views its a bit
annoying having to switch to the normal view. Any
suggestions, thanks.

In Print Layout view, you don't need a dotted line to indicate soft page
breaks since you're already seeing the pages themselves. Manual page breaks
are displayed, however.
