Is there a way to type a program booklet that will print in the right order
so that when it prints out, you can make copies on a copier and thebooklet
will be in the correct page order? Instead of just typing it in word and then
turning pages over and around to print on a copier , so that it is in book
order.

If you have Word 2002 or 2003, "Book fold" may do what you want. Otherwise,
see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/BookletPrinting.htm.
