I use Word 2000. Any time I change a margin I get the
error message above. I understand it is based on my
printer, but it does not seem to relate to what my printer
accepts at all. For example, if I change left and right
margins from 1.25" to 1", I get the message. When I tell
it to ignore, it moves all text almost to the middle of
the page (about a 3" left margin) and cuts off the bottom.
When I tell it to fix the margins, it changes the bottom
margin to 2.67". Every time! Anyone know a fix?

If this is an HP printer, try an updated printer driver, perhaps one of the
"margin fix" drivers from http://www.hp.com/pond/ljbeta/index.html
