I have a document that is 34 pages in length.  I want to place page numbers
in the upper right corner.  I want page 1 to appear on page 4, in other
words, I don't want any page numbers to appear on the first three pages of
the document.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Put a section break following your text on page three.  Open the Header and
Footer view.  Click the icon toggle off "same as previous/link to previous",
position your cursor where you want page numbers to appear, click the format
page number icon and select start at 1, click the insert page number icon.
That's it.

Greg,  I must be doing something wrong.  When I click on
insert......break......what type of break should I use.  Thanks,

You want to create a new section.  Use Insert>Break>Section Break Types>Next
page.  Then display the header and footer view and put your cursor in the
header of page four.  You will note that the display indicates Header
section 2.  Postion your cursor and follow the rest of the steps that I gave
you.

Hi Greg,

I appreciate your time and effort responding to my question.  I just can't
seem to solve my dilemma.  After following your directions, the page number
"1" only appears on the first page in Section 2.  The remainder of the pages
have no number on them.  Obviously I am quite a novice at Word......lol  I
will continue to try to see what I am doing wrong.  Thanks for your help.

Click somewhere on the first page in section 2, then click on File | Page
Setup | Layout | uncheck the "Different first page" box | Apply to: This
section | OK.  If necessary, reinsert the page number in the section 2 header.
