text. Omitting spaces and headings. Is tghere also a way to number

When you turn on line numbering in Word, every line is numbered, including
"blank lines" created by using empty paragraphs. This is only one of many
reasons for avoiding empty paragraphs (use Space Before/After instead). If
you want to skip the headings, however, you can add "Suppress line numbers"
to the heading style (Format | Paragraph | Line and Page Breaks).
