I am trying to change paper size in word from documents that have been
created using OCR and conversion to word. Some pages are only 5-6  wide  with
verry little left margins. When I attempt to change paper size in Word I get
error message "column widths cannot be less than 0.5". what do I need to do
to change the paper size to 8.5x11

It might help to select all the text and convert to a single column. It
might help more to re-run the OCR software and convert to plain text. Some
OCR software packages make a dreadful mess of formatting for Word.
Finereader is about the best, but even that is not perfect.
