When highlighting portions of a document to change the formatting, the change affects the whole document. By clicking on the back arrow, I can restore the original formating and allow the change to remain. Anyway, it's because the Normal style is set to "automatically update". You have to disable that. But in order to tell you exactly how to do that, I need to know which version of Word you have. I have Office 2003 and I tried clearing all boxs for disabling Automatically styple update but it is still not working, any idea why. > Well, Cindy had already pretty much answered your question, anyway.
