Text moves with text box, but not below it

In Word 2002 I have two text boxes on one page. They're both in about the
middle of the page --- one box is slightly lower on the page than the other
--- and I want the text to wrap below the text boxes, to the bottom margin.
But the text stops at the lower border of the lower text box. If I move the
text box lower, the text moves with, but not below, the box. I have checked
and unchecked "move text with box" and "allow overlap," but to no avail.
Suggestions please, and thanks in advance

This doesn't really sound at all familiar...

If you keep on typing, where does the additional text go? Can you see all the
text in Normal view?

I take it this is happening in only the one document? If you copy/paste each
text box, individually, to a new document, does the problem go away?
