Upon opening Word, I find that I'm opening an 8 x 9 inch blank document,
rather than the usual 8.5 x 11. The "Paper" tab in Page Setup says 8.5 x 11.
How do I get what I assume is my "normal" template back to the proper size?
Thanks!

Use one of the procedures at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm. (Some
people get old text stuck in their Normal.dot template, while others
-- as in your case -- get formatting. The cause and cure are the
same.)
