cut and paste adds underlining to heading not in original?

I cut and paste from pre-existing paragraphs into a new document.  The
original heading is all caps and bold.  When pasting into new document the
heading is caps, bold and underlined.   Where do I look for hidden text or
the command that is underlining this particular text without my knowledge?
