If you are using a "background" in any version earlier than Word 2003, you
can print it only using a rather Rube Goldbergian method. (In Word 2003,
check the box for "Background colors and images" on the Print tab of Tools |
Options.) Instead of a background (which is for Web pages), you need a
"watermark." In Word 2002 or 2003, you can use Format | Background | Printed
Watermark. For earlier versions, see “HOW TO: Create a Watermark in Word 97
and in Microsoft Word 2000”
