Is it correct to put senders name&address in top right corner?

I have always been taught to put the senders name in the top right corner of
a letter, Is this not correct?.

That's the traditional way of doing it, yes. But 'correct' or 'incorrect' is
a bit strong -- you can design a letterhead any way you like, putting your
name and address anyway you want.
