vertical centering and clip art

When I am using vertical centering on a document I am not able to put a clip
art or word art in an exact position.  The clip art keeps jumping around.  I
want the text centered on the page, but I want the graphic to just stay where
I put it.  ANy idea how to do this without turning off the vertical centering
option?
