Line below each numbered point

Hi I am using Word 2002 for this application and I want to set it up so
that each numbered point has a line below the entry. Have been trying with
borders but get nowhere. Want to just type my information (it is a manual
of sorts) and each entry will have a line before the next number comes up.

Perhaps it would work better to add a top border to each numbered item?

I am game to try anything.... how would I go about doing this?

Try applying a top border to a numbered paragraph (using Format | Borders
and Shading or the Borders palette on the Formatting toolbar). You can use
the Border Options in the dialog to adjust the distance from text. Then
update the numbered style to include the border.
