I am Hungarian and occasionally need to type in my own language. have
checked out the language section in Control Panel and clicked on Hungarian
but no change happened on screen when I typed. What do I do now please?

What are you expecting to have happen? (I'm only peripherally familiar with
Hungarian; I know it uses the Latin alphabet, so you should be able to TYPE
it?) And which version of Word do you have?

To add to what Cindy has said, if you are expecting Word to mark
misspellings, you will need to have Hungarian proofing tools installed.
Unless you have a version of Word that includes them (English versions have
only English, Spanish, and French), you will need to buy them (if still
available for your version); see
Office XP:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/xp/multilingual/prooftools.asp
Office 2003:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/language/proofingtools.mspx
If you mean that you are not able to easily type characters with accents,
note that you will need to enable an international keyboard layout.

I have developed extensive instructions for installing the capability to use
a foreign language, in all versions of Windows since 98. They apply
specifically to Polish, but are equally applicable to other languages. You
will them here:
http://www.mirecki.us/computing
Three levels of language functionality are described:
* typing in the language
* using proofing tools
* displaying menus and help in another language
One item not covered in my instructions is a keyboard chart - you need to
know which keys provide the Hungarian letters (no, you do NOT need a new
keyboard!). I suggest you check out microsoft.com/hun, or post a question in
the Hungarian-language group here.
Good luck!
