How do I stop Word 2003 from automatically opening 'Normal.dot'.

When I open Word 2003 it immediately opens a blank document but which is not
full-sized.  If I immediately click on View - Header and Footer then I see
the full-sized page.  Clicking View - Header and Footer again I see the
full-sized page but in the 'Print Layout' view.

I'd prefer that if it has to open a file that I didn't have to go through
this 'Show headers and footers' routine each time.
