Thanks, Suzanne. That's an effective workaround and it certainly
solves my current problem. Although it does occur to me that stopping
the spelling check rather than stopping the hyphenation carries with it
the potential for error should someone erroneously change the word
later.
Hyphenation, unfortunately, is part of "proofing."
