office 2003 opens with a document map is there a way to eliminate

I'd like to get rid of the document map.  I know how to do it once I'm in a
document, but is there a way to get word 2003 to open without it?

geez, I didn't even think of thumbnails, it changed when I hit doc map button
twice so I thought it was something there. thanks so much
