What I would like to do is have whatever I type appear centered, vertically
and horizontally, on the page.  Is this possible?  Tbanks in advance.

Set the paragraph alignment as Center. On the Layout tab of Page Setup, set
the vertical alignment to Center. Note, however, that mathematical centering
will rarely be attractive. Visual centering requires that text be slightly
above dead center.
