I have a document with footnotes.  When I attempted to move one of the
footnotes, (#37) it allowed me to move it.  However, it did not renumber the
endnotes.  So now the numbering is 35, 36, 38, 39.  No matter what I try I
can not get the footnotes to renumber to include 37.  It seems like it
remembers that 37 is still there although it does not display it at all. Does
anyone have any suggestions?

If you are Tracking Changes, the numbers will sort themselves out after all
changes have been Accepted or Rejected, and you can't control it in the
meantime.

If you are not Tracking Changes--
--what version of Word?
--was this doc originally created in Word, or imported from a different
program?
--exactly what did you do to move the footnote?
--did the note carry the #37 with it to the new location?
--are you sure these are notes created using Insert | Reference | Footnote,
and not cross-references or manual notes?
